Support Groups
Many burn survivors and their loved ones find support groups very helpful, informative and healing following discharge of the survivor from the hospital.
Support groups usually have gatherings that are open to any burn survivor or other interested parties, such as friends and family members. The purpose of these meetings is to provide a forum for the sharing of experiences, questions and information. In addition, the challenges of adapting to life as a burn survivor are discussed along with the development of activity programs that benefit burn survivors.
Some meetings feature invited speakers. Sometimes the agenda is left open so participants can explore whatever issues come to mind. And sometimes the focus is mainly social and fun.
